The chaotic journey of Necrotic Woods started in 2004 when Nachzehrer and Thorn decided to unite their affection for the dark, the cold and the suicidal in a black metal band. Soon Trist (drums) and Brew (second guitar) joined the band and the four of them started composing songs. Various underground shows followed over the years and in 2008 the first demo-album, Exaltation of Death, including six songs, i.e. 35 minutes altogether, was recorded and released by the band itself. Trist left the band in 2010 and was replaced by Leech.

In 2011 the band became complete with the bass guitarist spitt and played shows in Cologne, Paderborn, Bielefeld, Würzburg, Tongeren (Belgium) etc. Thorn wrote the lyrics for the band’s second output, The Nameless Dark, while the band was in charge of the songwriting and in early 2014 Necrotic Woods entered the studio.

What started as Black Metal back in 2004 has become a tempest which also carries death, thrash, doom and gloomy, perverted rock’n’roll in its breath.

In November 2014 a contract with the cologne-based label Bret Hard Records was signed and the new album, The Nameless Dark, has been let loose upon the world in March 2015. After the release, shows were played in Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Since July 2018 new songs are being recorded at Hellforge Studio in Detmold. After Necrotic Woods parted with Bret Hard Records in 2018, a new label has to be found to release the successor to The Nameless Dark in 2019.
