The Nameless Dark (2015) – Ωneiric

I entered a tunnel to rest and to sleep

And maybe to dream of the sun and the past.

The outer world moans under siege by decay,

Growing cold in the darkness devoid of all stars.

The decay of the world resounds in this tunnel

That stretches all crumbling and dark like a dream,

A dream I dreamt, a dream of the end,

Set after the clocks stopped at 1:17.

I reached for the light at the end of the tunnel,

Yet the further I walked the weaker it grew.

All I reached was a world ere its ultimate end,

Lying scorched `neath a welkin which lets no hope through.

The light was the blaze which devoured all hope

And gave birth to the dark which was given no name,

Which rose from the fire with wings of thick smoke

To darken a world never meant to remain.

Amid the vast mayhem, at one with the reek,

Something was shifting from shadow to shape.

It stared at me, stared at me, whispered:”Now sleep”,

While I writhed in the darkness and tried to awake.
