The Nameless Dark (2015) – Godless

Crumbling monuments,

Epitaphs erased by the ravages of time.

Remembrance withers

Under ashes, dirt and grime.

Once I am gone no grave will bear my name.

Once I am gone no knells will chime.

All churches burnt, all steeples collapsed.

The dark is bare of anything divine.

No Heaven, no angels, no God –

Just this world succumbed to rot.

All prayers were spoken unheard

And all holiness has come undone

As all else upon this world

That is dying in the absence of the sun.

All those that I remember,

All those that I forgot

Are dead and gone for evermore,

Gone before, to rot – in the absence of God.

I will not be remembered,

I will not be forgotten,

For only I remember

Or forget the dead and rotten.

Scorched and blackened angels

With faces numb and cold

Stare with motionless eyes,

Unable to see what I behold.

I behold the nothingness,

The great and godless darkness to come.

Nothingness lies

Beyond the darkest thoughts I cannot shun.

Upon this barren globe

I will wander – godless

Beneath a sooted cloak

Of darkness, deep and godless.

Godless…

Until the darkness takes me.

I will wander – godless.

Until my breath forsakes me

And the darkness takes me – godless..
